In this month’s lesson, John looks back at the founding of our country and its first president, George Washington. Washington’s leadership set a benchmark of trust and greatness that few presidents since have been able to match in the eyes of the people. John will look at what differentiated Washington’s leadership from others and how we can learn from the greatness of George Washington, to become great influencers in our own circles.

Leadership in Action: “George Washington application piece”
Lesson Application
I was fortunate enough to be in the audience when John spoke on this lesson. I was not familiar with the details of George Washington's leadership talents until sitting back as a student and listening to John. It's amazing the depth of leader President Washington was, yet he executed in a very unassuming way. His example leaves us with the belief that leadership is not reserved for the uncommon man. Rather, it is available for all who are willing to gracefully serve and not be fearful of differing opinions.
For our application this month, I'm going to drill down into one of the points John discussed, Valuing Different Opinions. I selected this topic because it is an Achilles' heel for so many leaders.
